Powering brighter futures
Our business has operated for over 45 years and this means we take the long-term view when it comes to business. This is not only about looking after our customers and their needs, but the long term future of our planet and communities too.
As part of our commitment to ensure our Salt is Harvested in Harmony with Nature, we continually look to reduce our carbon impact. One of the key ways we have done this is in the investment in solar energy generators at both our Loch Marie Salt pans and Upington production facility to create enough energy to cover the majority of our electricity needs.
This will reduce our carbon footprint by 60% or 306 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) in Upington alone. This is the same amount of carbon produced by a car if it is driven over 1 million kilometers!
Not only is this good for the planet, but it provides greater production stability during load-shedding cycles.
